I am the King!  - posted by Joye 08-14-2007 11:28
This book was a really hard one for me to rate. When I started the book it jumped around so much that it was really annoying. I could understand how King "finds" his stories out there, because until he "found" this story it was pretty jumbled. He kept jumping forward and then backward in his story to fill in information. I really didn't like this style of writing, but when he finally did "find" his story, it was really good. By the end, I loved the book, so I guess I could forgive the randomness of the start. It's about the political intrigue of a long ago kingdom with the good, the bad, and the ugly. There's murder and drunkenness and there's sacrifice and heroes. Everything you could want! King wrote this book for his daughter and so it is more of a children's story. It has no swearing and less graphic descriptions than King is known for. It is also written in a more simple style. Overall I gave it a better rating, because the more I thought about it the more I liked it. It's a great simple fantasy and if you're ever in the mood for that kind of story, I recommend it highly.
