Some Cool Ideas  - posted by Rusty 03-16-2007 07:28
So, I read this book without reading Sundiver first, and it seemed to work well for me. I may have missed a few things, but I really enjoyed it anyway. I liked the whole idea of uplifed dolphins and chimps, because it isn't too far of a stretch, I think. It is also a SciFi version of the classic underdog story, and who doesn't like rooting for the underdog? It won both the Hugo and the Nebula awards, and there is a reason for that. Well worth the read!

Fly, be free!  - posted by Rocky Keele 03-15-2007 23:13
Humans have uplifted two species to sentience now the chimps and the dolphins. The dolphin's first space ship has discovered something that the other galactic civilizations want very much. How do you catch a dolphin? Not in an ocean, so that's where the dolphin ship hides. A cool story. My only complaint is that the array of alien species is a bit hokey. Oh well, still good stuff.
