This book was also fun to read. The new ideas presented in it were nearly as good as those presented in the first book: the Weasley's flying car, the whomping willow, polyjuice potions and parseltongue to name a few. In some ways "second" books are better than the first ones because the author can focus on developing the story and not introducing all the characters. I think this one holds its own with the first book. Gilderoy and Colin were some great characters that were introduced here, and made the story even better.

Number Two!  - posted by Cin 07-10-2007 17:51
Overall I liked this one less than the first book. However, there were some elements of the second book that were fantastic! Such as, the mysterious journal...very cool to have it come to life and allow Harry to be view something as if he was right there. The ending though, I have to say was disappointing, and reminded me too much of the movie "It". Big obnoxious monster is the solution to the mystery. I did like that Harry used the Gryffendor sword, and thus firmly answered his question of whether or not he should have been placed in Slytherin.
