bloody well written!  - posted by Cin 07-09-2007 15:27
I consider myself lucky that I didn't discover Harry Potter until the fourth book was released. I didn't have to wait in between books, it is excruciatingly painful to do so now. Anyway, I was blown away by the uniqueness this story had. I loved that it was appropriate for children, yet entertaining for adults. I loved that the poor picked on boy was the one introduced to a world filled with magic, friends, and hope. Unlike Rusty, I enjoy that each book gets darker and drearier, but hey, maybe that's just my personality!

Starting the series off good  - posted by Rusty 07-08-2007 20:37
This book is my favorite of the Harry Potter Series. Even though I have heard or read or seen the story several times now, I was really blown away the first time I read it. There are a few things that make this one my favorite: it is shorter, more light hearted, doesn't have all of Harry's "Voldemort Baggage" and I really liked being introduced to the characters and ideas for the first time. Wasn't it fun learning about Quidditch, and moving pictures and Hogwarts? That is an aspect that is missing from the rest of the series. I can't believe that this fun book is now ten years old. Good stuff.
